General
The DiMarzio DP174 Red Velvet single coil pickup is for the guitarist looking for an element that has both Strat and Tele pickup characteristics. The element has quite a bit of punch, which is generated by the so-called "Power Plate" that sits on the underside of the pickup. The sharper tones come from the custom wound coils and the distinctive midrange spike is the result of a hand-calibrated magnet. The Red Velvet is designed for the bridge position of ST-style guitars, but also works well in the neck and middle positions when combined with a bridge humbucker like the Air Classic.
