If you have ever created nature sound recordings, you know what it sounds like when the wind blows into a bare directional microphone: like thunder without lightning. The older Rode Blimp is both renowned and award-winning and has now been improved to create the superior Rode Blimp MK2 windscreen with shockmount.
Properties of the Rode Blimp MK2 Windscreen with Shockmount
The product comes in three distinct parts. First, there's the blimp itself: a mesh housing in a honeycomb-structured pill-shaped frame. Second, a Dead Wombat is included; a fuzzy, hairy sleeve that filters low frequencies out of your recordings. Third, a pistol-style handle fitted with the (Rycote Lyre) shockmount to eradicate any handling noise. The Rycote Lyre is a flexible, but durable system that holds your microphone and absorbs shocks.
Using the Blimp
This blimp is designed specifically for the Rode NTG1, NTG2 and NTG3 microphones. A whole variety of microphones from other brands also fit in the blimp, as long as they aren’t longer than 325 mm. To make sure that your directional mic is compatible with the blimp, we advise you that you compare it to the above-mentioned Rode models. The entire set is a lot lighter than its predecessor, so that the weight of your camera or boom is made a lot more manageable. You can mount this blimp + holder on a (standard) 3/8-inch stand.

Rode geeft je gelijk een compleet pakket blimp, deadcat en accesoires.
De Mk2 Is vergeleken met de Mk 1 een aanzienlijk stukje lichter (naar mijnn mening) en heeft nog eens een fraai design die professionaliteit uitstraalt waar opdrachtgevers op de set altijd blij van worden.
