General
Directional microphones truly are the workhorses of the professional film and TV world and Rode is the purveyor to the royal household! The NTG3B is one of the most renowned shotgun microphones in the world, as it provides professional audio quality under even the most difficult circumstances. Thanks to its robust RF-bias construction, it can handle moisture and is therefore ideal for emotional overacting that would usually be the death of a professional condenser mic.
Rode BTG3B: Pickup Pattern
The NTG3B, which was designed and made in the Land Down Under, has a super-cardioid pickup pattern which is optimally attuned to directional recordings in interview settings or TV and film recordings. No worries! You will be able to enjoy superb audio with your images, without suffering from annoying ambient noises from the sides or back of the camera. The NTG3B can be used on-camera, as well as on a boom. Thanks to a wide frequency range and flat curve, a natural, warm and full sound is guaranteed.
Construction
The housing of the NTG3B is made of solid brass, for durable solidity. Nevertheless, the NTG3B is surprisingly light of weight – it only weighs 163 grams. This black NTG3 has a special anti-reflective coating. Among other things, the NTG3 is delivered including a customised cylinder that lets you safely store the microphone and protect it from vibrations, moisture and dust, greatly increasing its life span!
Tips or comments about this product- Please note: It is usual with Rode microphones that one of the XLR pins (the grounding) extends a little bit further than the others.

De doos van mijn microfoon was open geweest (zegel) en beschadigd. Omdat de microfoon en accessoires zelf geen gebruikssporen vertoonden, heb ik dat in eerste instantie geaccepteerd.
Overal wordt deze microfoon opgehemeld, maar ik heb de mijne uiteindelijk toch geretourneerd. Bij een laatste test viel hij zwaar tegen. Geluiden van achteren en opzij werden flink gedempt, ja, maar vooral dof weergegeven. En eigenlijk best wel hard. Zo hard, dat de doffe geluiden vaak erg overheersten, zodat het uiteindelijke resultaat niet mooi was. Het laagfilter inschakelen is in mijn geval geen optie.
Mijn oude NTG2 is minder richtingsgevoelig, maar maakt de bijgeluiden in elk geval niet zo dof.
Gelukkig was retourneren geen probleem en had ik mijn betaling een dag na ontvangst door Bax terug ontvangen.
