General

The original VB-2 vibrato effects pedal by Boss was launched in 1982, but has recently been rediscovered by modern guitarists and bass players. Looking back, you could safely say Boss was ahead of their time. Due to its increasing popularity, Boss decided to re-release the stomp box in all its glory, this time as the Waza Craft VB-2W. Essentially, it's a modernised version of the original. The analogue circuitry has remained intact, which means the original pitch-shifted vibrato was also unchanged. Boss did decide, however, to equip the pedal with an improved arsenal of vibrato modes and a real-time control function for enhanced expression.

Waza VB-2W: tone innovation

This Waza edition of the VB-2 offers a true Boss experience with improved modes for unique vibrato sounds and what's known as a Filter Wave to boot. What's more, this pedal is equipped with a Standard mode that allows the original VB-2 sound to shine like never before. Adjust the depth of the effect using a separately-available expression pedal. Use the Unlatch mode to activate the effect by only pressing the pedal when you want to add vibrato to a specific note or chord. With the VB-2W, you get all the best parts of the original pedal, plus lots of modern new features!

This re-issue of the Boss VB-2 was given the name Waza Craft for a reason. In Japanese, the term 'waza' means technique, and symbolizes a level of excellence that is only achieved through years of dedication and commitment to one’s craft. After years of experience, the engineers at Boss have achieved a new level of design and craftsmanship, and the VB-2W is a good example of this. It has even received the approval of the Boss designers in Japan. What's more, the analogue components of this device have been put together with great care for the very best result. The result is such an exceptional sound and response, it's easy to understand why so many guitarists welcome this effect with open arms!

NAMM 2016: Boss Launches 3 New Stompbox Effects: BC-1X, VB-2W and VO-1

Boss, a pioneer in effects pedals, is launching three new effects pedals with the BC-1X, VB-2W and VO-1. These are a bass compression pedal (BC-1X), a reissue of the VB-2 vibrato (VB-2W Waza Craft) and a stompbox-sized vocoder (VO-1). Boss decided to release a reissue of the popular VB-2 vibrato pedal, and Boss Japan gave it their blessing in the form of the Waza Craft label.
