Following decades of demand, Boss have finally answered: the Boss HM-2 is back! The myth and legend that was the original Boss HM-2 was first produced in Japan between 1983 and 1988, with a short-lived Taiwan-made rerun following in 1991. Swedish death metal bands including Dismembered, Entombed and At the Gates have since harnessed the 'Chainsaw' distortion this stompbox wields, and to great effect, meaning that the originals are one of the most sought after distortion pedals of all time. Now, the new age of the HM-2 has dawned with the release of the Waza Craft edition: still made in Japan; still treating die-hard fans of the original to the same kind of sound that could rip holes in the fabric of space-time itself, and this time, it comes with a few little contemporary tweaks.
The Waza Craft HM-2W Heavy Metal: A Premium Buffer & Two Modes
Boss have set up this reincarnation with two modes: Standard and Custom. In Standard mode, you get the same output as the original HM-2, but it's been given three decibels of extra volume and cleaned up a bit, so you're signal isn't so bothered by unwanted noise. Meanwhile, Custom mode gives you even more gain, so you can spit even more aggression. The EQ section has also been nudged into the present so that it operates more comfortable with modern gear, meaning you can freely dial every pot up to ten or do some more in-depth, custom tweaking, and besides metal, the HM-2W will definitely find a solid spot on the boards of alternative rock and even shoegaze guitarists, while thanks to a premium buffer, you're always assured of outstanding signal transfer when the pedal isn't active.

It's great for the Swedish death metal chainsaw sound, it does that flawlessly. If you turn the volume & high knobs down you can get a kind of big muff sound. Definitely warrants some more experimentation with the settings as the first thing I had to do was try all the knobs on full for the chainsaw sound! Cool pedal.

Okee, de distortion gaat van 1 naar 10 binnen een kwartslag, maar de echte magie zit hem in de Hi en Lo controls...
Als je alles op max zet, ja, dan krijg je dat typische Zweedse deathmetalgeluid met die midscoop.
Maar, als je de equalizer afstemt op je versterker, en je pielt wat met de distortion, dan snap je meteen waarom shoegazers gek zijn op dit pedaal.
Allesverzengend qua distortion, maar de klankkleur is veelzijdiger dan je denkt.
Het is niet alleen maar metal wat de klok slaat met dit pedaal, én, als je bas speelt, of je hebt een Bass VI, dan is dit ook meteen een goeie vriend voor al je geluiden.
Iedereen zou er eentje moeten hebben.

Als fan van de Meta Zone heb ik mij toch over laten halen om de Heavy Metal Waza aan te schaffen.
Zoals de vele reviews op youtube zou deze Waza veel beter moeten zijn dan de Metal Zone.
Bij binnenkomst meteen aangesloten en alle knoppen naar 12 gedraaid ;-)
Ik had het gevoel dat mijn versterker in een plastic emmer was ondergedompeld, dit is niet mijn sound! Veel te mild en blikkerig. De Metal Zone scheurt veeeeel meer. Maar door een beetje te spelen met de color mix knoppen kwam ik verder, wat een heerlijk zwaar geluid kan je er uit toveren, heerlijk! Vergeet alle reviews op youtube en maak je eigen sound! Deze Heavy Metal is een erg mooie aanvulling. Draai niet alles open, behalve dan de Dist ;-) en je krijgt er heerlijke zware metal klanken uit. De Metal Zone kan je hard laten krijsen en de Heavy Metal kan je heerlijk laten brullen, anders kan ik het niet verwoorden.
Veel plezier met je keuze en aanschaf van dit kwaliteitsproduct. (en vergeet de custom setting niet, die geeft je net even wat meer crisp)

Alles op 10!! Fantastisch pedaal voor het welbekende swedish chainsaw geluid. Alhoewel deze natuurlijk ook anders ingezet kan worden zoals David Gilmour destijds bewezen heeft.
De custom setting is op dit pedaal een grote plus, hierdoor klinkt het pedaal voller. Gezien de hoge prijzen van de vintage HM-2 made in Japan, is de waza craft (ook made in Japan) wat mij betreft een uitkomst! In dit geval kun je stellen dat de bouwkwaliteit en onderdelen in Japan nog steeds van de hoogste kwaliteit zijn.
De custom setting is op dit pedaal een grote plus, hierdoor klinkt het pedaal voller. Gezien de hoge prijzen van de vintage HM-2 made in Japan, is de waza craft (ook made in Japan) wat mij betreft een uitkomst! In dit geval kun je stellen dat de bouwkwaliteit en onderdelen in Japan nog steeds van de hoogste kwaliteit zijn.

De klassieker in een nieuw jasje ; als je op zoek bent naar dat zweedse geluid , dan kom je al snel bij de HM2 uit ; er zijn ontzettend veel look-alikes en/of cloonen van dit legendarische pedaal , maar veel beter wordt het eigenlijk niet . Het nieuwe jasje betekent ook modernere elektronica waarbij ook gedacht is aan een nieuwe extra toepassing als db boost ; de kleine schakelaar voorop naast de voedingsaansluiting .
Zelf gebruik ik dit pedaal als n soort eq boost (dist bijna op nul ) , maar via het cleane kanaal geeft ie meer dan genoeg distortion , en met de alles naar rechts doet 'ie precies waar t allemaal mee begonnen is !
Voor de prijs hoef je het niet te laten ;)
