The D'Angelico Excel Style B looks like it was plucked right out of a 1930s jazz café. This semi-acoustic archtop features a laminated spruce soundboard and laminate flamed maple body coated in transparent high-gloss lacquer that not only brings out the natural beauty of the wood, but helps pull out a rich acoustic foundation sound. The non-cutaway body keeps things historically accurate, while the 7-ply body binding, pearloid split position markers and 5-ply Scalini pickguard only boost the aesthetic appeal.

The D'Angelico Excel Style B: Supple Playability

Featuring a comfy-and-classic C-profile, the set-in neck of this swanky archtop has been made from three pieces of tonewood to guarantee maximum resonance. The 24.75-inch scale length combines with an ebony fretboard that's been given a 12-inch radius for that traditionally relaxed and supple playing feel, supported by the durability of twenty-two Jescar 47/104 nickel-silver frets and the accurate intonation and tuning stability of a 43mm-wide Graph Tech NuBone XL nut.

DeArmond Rhythm Chief Pickup

Since every archtop guitar deserves an archtop-exclusive pickup, D'Angelico has outfitted the Style B with a DeArmond Rhythm Chief 1000 Alnico V neck humbucker, guaranteeing the full-flavoured sound fit for jazz and other styles that lean on expressiveness. Then there's the hardware, which blends form and function. The ebony floating bridge combines with an iconic stairstep tailpiece and gold-plated Grover 150 Imperial tuners, resulting in masses of resonance, dependable tuning stability and arresting looks.
