The long interference tube makes the Neumann KMR 82 i shotgun microphone highly directional. Outside a 45-degree angle, sounds are picked up much softer. What makes this directional microphone special is the fact that sounds from the side still sound natural. thanks to the even off-axis response. For speech only, you don't need very low frequencies so with the built-in low-cut filter you remove unwanted rumble. This microphone is also perfect for close miking. The high-cut filter ensures that the sound does not become too shrill. The KMR 82 i has an enormous dynamic range. For very loud sounds, you can even use the attenuator. That way, the microphone and your recorder will not overload.
