General
The next step up from the HS50M, the Yamaha HS5 monitor has a slightly larger housing and boasts improved speaker performance, while the 70 Watt output capacity provides plenty of headroom in smaller spaces. Known for their signature white woofers, the Yamaha HS-Series studio monitors are icons in their own right, and as the smallest member of the family, the HS5 has been specifically calibrated to ensure neutral audio reproduction in tighter control rooms, home studios or even mobile studios. Don't let the trimmed-down footprint and light weight fool you though, this monitor is capable of delivering uncoloured sound backed up by an ultra-flat frequency response. This is the limited edition grey version.
The Yamaha HS5: Bi-Amped
Like any decent monitor, the HS5 features a bi-amped configuration, where the bass and trebles are amplified separately. 45 Watts are sent to the woofer and 25 Watts to the compression driver, amounting to a total output of 70 Watts to result in plenty of headroom for clear, accessible mixing. And, as a sweet bonus, Room Control and High Trim functions efficiently adapt the HS5 to match your workspace.

Ik zat te twijfelen tussen de Adam T5V of deze Yamaha HS5. Op verschillende vergelijkingsites kwamen deze beide goed uit de test voor de kleinere beginnende studio. Het enige wat ik spannend vond was dat ik de speakers dicht bij de wand ging plaatsen. Hiervoor kan je bij de Yamaha de lage tonen wat dempen zodat je geen overrepresentatie van de bass hebt (heeft de T5V ook btw). Verder zien deze grijze limited edition er erg kek uit. Aanrader!
