General

The time of the HS50M is gone, and Yamaha has presented its successor: the HS5. This active 5-inch monitor is based on the earlier HS series, and features a number of improvements. The design has been freshened up, so the monitors look sleeker and neater, and the technological audio aspects have been refined and updated for better sound reproduction than ever.

Special features of the HS5

With a light weight of just 5 kg, this is definitely a practical monitor that performs wonderfully in home studios. The built-in bi-amp amplification module of 45 + 25 watts offers enough power to conjure up extreme sound quality from the internal components. With the built-in Room Control and High Trim functionality you have everything you need to adjust the sound to fit the acoustics of your room perfectly.

Auralex MoPADs

The included Auralex MoPADs offer perfect isolation between your monitor and table top, preventing resonance and vibrations so as not to negatively influence the overall sound quality. But that's not all! Thanks to the separate pieces and the versatile placement possibilities, you can configure the Mopads take on a particular angle, so you can angle the HS5 monitors up or down to suit your needs. These are the best studio monitors you can get for the price. You will not be disappointed, they are stylish and well made, the surface finish is very good. Sound quality is perfect for small home studio, and gives a nice flat response. I would buy these again, and am considering others in the Yamaha HS range.

Prima pads gebruik ze voor mijn MackieCR5BT geen trillingen meer speakers staan beter gericht en klinken daardoor beter. Goede aankoop voor een leuke prijs.

J'ai acheté ces blocs de mousse pour découpler des enceintes surround Atmos déposées sur des meubles ou des étagères, pour éviter que des vibrations soient communiquées à ces derniers. Cela remplace avantageusement les petits pieds en caoutchouc habituels, et permet aussi certains réglages d'inclinaison optimale. L'enceinte est mieux stabilisée et risque moins des déplacements indésirés !
Jusqu'à présent ( seulement quelques jours d'utilisation ), aucune remarque négative à formuler, cela fait le job comme on dit, mais il faut avouer que vu le type d'enceinte ( surround en milieu domestique ), la sollicitation des haut-parleurs n'est pas énorme !
Mais par contre, l'utilisation de ces blocs de mousse sur un pied, comme illustré en photo, ne m'inspire pas confiance.
J'espère que la matière résistera un temps raisonnable ( quelques années ! ) sans perdre ses caractéristiques ... les mousses alvéolées du type polyuréthane n'ont pas toujours une bonne réputation ... souvent justifiée !

Recent deze studio monitors aangeschaft nadat ik studio monitors van een ander merk had gekocht maar die hadden een flinke ruis in de tweeter in idle state. Daar werd ik helemaal gek van dus die zijn vrijwel direct terug gegaan.

Na langer zoeken naar stillere studio monitors kwam ik bij de Yamaha HS5 uit. Ik heb ze eerst getest in de winkel en vergeleken met de Adam T5V, maar bij de Yamaha's was de tweeter stiller (in idle state dus) en ik vond het geluid van de Yamaha's prettiger.

Veel mensen online geven aan dat de Yamaha HS5 te weinig bas heeft en dat je perse een sub nodig hebt. Mogelijk komt die er ooit, maar voor nu vind ik de bas response echt dikke prima voor mijn doeleinden.

Al met al een aanrader!
