Yamaha HS5 set + HS8S Active Full-Range Studio Monitor Pack

Incredibly pleased with these speakers which sound great with my dusted down 1210s. A long overdue purchase and I couldn't be happier.

I bought this speaker as a birthday gift for my son and he absolutely loves it. According to him its perfect for what he wants it for.

I wasn't sure if I should buy this sub to complement my HS7s, but I'm glad I did. I use my setup to listen to the music and watch movies, and it drastically changed the experience. First of all you really feel the music – the lower frequencies are reverberating in your body, even on very low volume. In general I noticed that I can listen to the music on a much lower volume and still enjoy every detail. It also gives presence to such instruments like double bass, tuba, drums, or lower octave of a piano. My HS7 no longer have to deal with these lower frequencies and at least to my ears sound a bit clearer.
One thing to keep in mind though is that it's very sensitive to the positioning (like any sub). If I put it in the corner a bit out of sight, then it creates a room mode in the opposite corner with greatly amplified bass, while there's almost nothing in the centre of the room. So need to play around with it, and adjust for your listening position. Something to keep in mind.
Overall very happy with the purchase.

Sound amazing for the price, lack a little in bass but if you are using reference tracks it doesn’t stop you. Reliable, careful delivery and good email updates.

1st Time I've tried this cable brand so its early days but plugged it in and it works so a good start, seems solid enough for the price but time will tell. For some reason I seem to kill cables at the XLR plug by what looks like excessive cable rotation and I don't mean spinning mike around my head on end of cable but cable always seems to get twisted breaking outer insulation and then a copper core gives up. Could it be because I don't have a mike stand?

These are the best studio monitors you can get for the price. You will not be disappointed, they are stylish and well made, the surface finish is very good. Sound quality is perfect for small home studio, and gives a nice flat response. I would buy these again, and am considering others in the Yamaha HS range.
