General
Bringing the same level of flexibility as the MicroFreak, the Arturia MiniFreak pushes up the bar a touch and comes with a more conventional keyboard loaded with real keys rather than a flat, touch-sensitive interface.
Sound Sculpting with the Arturia MiniFreak
While the MiniFreak has a polyphony of just six and two oscillators per voice, those oscillators are capable of twelve-note paraphonics. And, while the oscillators are digital, the filters are analogue, and when it comes to sound-sculpting, you're supported by FM; ring-modulation; a whole effects section and more. The arpeggiator is also pretty extensive and comes backed up by a ratchet, an octave-randomizer and other sweet functions, and since this really is a machine with two faces, you can travel from the conventional to extreme, experimental sonic landscapes at will.
Software
Any Arturia fan will know that they also develop software, including emulations of vintage hardware - usually with 'V' moniker added to the name. And here, you're getting both the hardware version of the MiniFreak plus a MiniFreak-V: a plug-in version of the hardware. This means the hardware can actually be used as a controller for the software - a nice plus when it comes to studio integration. That, combined with the classic keyboard makes this synth a stonking little writing and producing beast.

I have plenty of arturia V synths, but I do prefer hardware. After seeing reviews and youtube thought I'd lash out the cash. I don't think anybody could do any better for the money. Beautiful nasty sounds, great interface, excellent fx and all round classic. This synth I believe is great for a beginner (with a little patience) and great for the more seasoned synthersist. I've been messing since the late seventies and this brilliant little synth put a very large grin on my face. A bonus is the software you get to link to your DAW if wanted. Another winner arturia.One day I hope to own a polybrute, fingers crossed.

I'm a big fan of Arturia products, have a few of their products including this one, this one being a step up to the microfreak I already own but works lovely along side it.
Endless opportunities to produce real nice sounds. Pretty straight forward to play meaning it's fun to just start making nice sounds straight out of the box. Getting one of these you will not be disappointed. I think for what it is capable of it is fantastic value for money.

I love my new MiniFreak – it's solidly built, has an intriguing sound engine that, yes, can sound a little experimental but can also be tamed to sound more conventional if that's what you want. The layout is logical and you can make some inspiring tweaks by just using a few knobs and the control strips to the left of the keyboard. The mod matrix is intuitive and offers loads of control. But the icing on the cake is the included VST – a complete recreation of the synth in software, so you can have multiple instances running at once while keeping full control over all of the settings. I wish my other synths could do this!

Ik heb onlangs mijn Arturia MiniFreak besteld bij Bax-shop, en ik moet zeggen: wat een topservice! Geen twijfel, geen twijfelachtige verpakking — gewoon een spinternieuw model, perfect geleverd. Bij andere winkels kreeg ik wel eens een B-stock zonder duidelijke vermelding, dus dit voelde als een verademing.
En dan de synth zelf… MiniFreak is een droom voor beginnende muzikanten én voor wie gewoon fun wil hebben. Je hoeft geen sound design wizard te zijn om ermee aan de slag te gaan — de interface is intuïtief, de presets zijn inspirerend, en je zit binnen minuten in een muzikale flow.
Wat mij echt verraste:
• 🎛️ Klinkt geweldig voor z’n prijs — van warme pads tot gekke glitchy leads
• 🎹 Speelt soepel en expressief — toetsen voelen goed, arpeggiator is top
• 🧠 Gratis VST-versie inbegrepen — je kunt dezelfde sounds in je DAW gebruiken
• 🎚️ Te gebruiken als MIDI-controller — sliders en toetsen werken perfect in Ableton of Logic
• 🚀 Snel mee aan de slag — geen handleiding nodig om plezier te hebben
Of je nu net begint of gewoon een compacte synth zoekt die inspireert en presteert, de MiniFreak levert. En met Bax-shop die hem nieuw en netjes levert, is het gewoon een no-brainer.

Dagelijks ongelofelijk veel lol met deze synthesizer! :D
Ik ben eigenlijk helemaal niet zo'n toetsenist (wel snaarman en sinds kort een beetje drummer) maar dit is echt wel een enorme aanwinst hoor! Keyboards zijn overwegend nogal saai-ig en er zijn natuurlijk wel wat mooie klanken voor (te maken) maar dit is echt een heel ander verhaal!
Uiteraard zijn er boards van in de 1000-en euro's waar je ook enorm veel mee kunt maar met dit 'dingetje' kun je bijna evenveel! :D
Ik twijfelde eerst over de Arturia MicroFreak maar wil toch graag echte toetsen en net ietsje meer qua mogelijkheden. De body is ook lekker stevig en van metaal en dat vindt ik ook erg prettig.
Ik ben nu van ooit alleen gitaar naar electrisch drummen en nu dus ook naar synthesizer gegaan en ben van plan om binnenkort maar eens iets echts op te gaan nemen.
Ik wil gewoon iets achterlaten in het leven en dan is muziek gewoon mijn ding.
De een schrijft een boek of wat verhalen en een ander maakt iets moois of schildert eens wat.
Ik wil een aantal nummers achterlaten en daar ben ik nu wel zo'n beetje aan toe.
Ik speel al gitaar vanaf m'n 16e en heb wel wat in bandjes gezeten maar het kwam er allemaal net niet van.
Nu weet ik het.. Ik ben gewoon een eenmansband aan het zijn! :D
