SOMA Enner Red synthesiser

General

Virtually all synthesizers use knobs and buttons to create sounds. The SOMA Enner Red, however, uses your skin as a conductor: by touching various metal pads with your fingers and palms, you control how the signal flows through the circuit. Your body determines the mix, volume, timbre and feedback. This makes every playing session different, even with the same patch! The included rubber straps add an extra dimension to your playing: stretch them across the panel to pluck or let them vibrate for additional acoustic textures.

One instrument, multiple sound sources

The Enner combines an array of filters (high-pass, low-pass and two band-pass filters, each stereo), a modulated stereo delay with self-modulation, a five-voice synthesiser with independent pitch control per voice, and a rhythm synth. A built-in piezo pickup captures the sound of the cabinet itself, allowing you to sing or scratch across the panel and then route that signal through the filters and delay for acoustic feedback effects. SOMA has thus created an incredibly versatile and hands-on synthesiser that feels more like a traditional instrument than a ‘classic’ synth. It’s encased in a handcrafted wooden cabinet, which not only looks luxurious but also contributes acoustically to the sound.
