The Minilogue XD is the latest synthesizer from Korg and follows in the footsteps of many other successful models. It has top-quality sound with analogue warmth and plenty of on-board controls and effects. Each of the four voices is made using two analogue oscillators and a digital multi-engine that has noise, VPM and user sound generators. The noise generator offers four different types and is great for making percussive sounds and effects. The VPM is essentially an FM oscillator that has two operators and can be used to make complex sounds. The user oscillators let you use ones you've created yourself or downloaded from the internet, for instance. It goes without saying, therefore, that the possibilities and almost limitless.
As soon as you've mastered the basics of the oscillators, there are plenty of other functions for you to get to grips with. Two envelopes, the LFO, the filter and the effects, for example. Three different types of effects (modulation, reverb and delay) can be used simultaneously and there's a user effect slot that you can load your creations to as well. There's also a sequencer, the possibility to micro-tune the pitch of each key and CV is supported too. The characteristic joystick is there and the Korg Minilogue XD also has a display that lets you view the waveform of the sound's electrical signal!
