With its Root Beer lacquered flamed-maple top, the Yamaha Pacifica 611HFM Custom Shop may have a luxuriant look but is anything but an over-fussy guitar. This all-round sonic labourer is voiced by a P-90 single-coil pickup at the neck and a vintage-style humbucker mounted proudly at the bridge. The Pacifica 611HFM and Seymour Duncan Pickup Partnership

Getting a touch more specific, the Yamaha PAC611HFM has been loaded with pickups from one of the best developers out there: Seymour Duncan. The Custom 5 at the bridge is based on the classic '59 humbucker and delivers that same dusty vintage tone but comes with an extra helping of output and a healthy layer of low-end. While the SP90-1N neck pickup is a direct reproduction of the genre defining '50s P-90 soapbar, the output has been boosted and the mids have been enhanced for a fatter sound that'll cut effortlessly through the mix. Tweak your preferred configuration to taste and then pull the tone pot out to split the humbucker and get the full brightness, cleanliness and twang of a set of single-coils.

First-Class Hardware and Optimum Reliability

Yamaha have long stood for both dependability and quality and the Pacifica 611HFM is yet another indisputable example of this. A set of Grover locking machine heads supports the most extreme level of tuning stability possible as well as fast and streamlined string changes. This, while the bridge is fitted with Graphtech String Saver saddles, each made from a special graphite and teflon composite; the same composite as the TUSQ XL string nut and guides. The self-lubricant nature of this material means that any instances of string breakage at the saddles or strings getting stuck at the nut are highly unlikely.
