Due to the bigger-than-average 16 inch diameter, this hefty hi-hat bears a thicker, lower-pitched and fuller response than the standard 13 or 14 inch hats you're probably used to playing with. While a little different, the Paiste 2002 Black Big Beat hi-hat can be applied to a wide range of playing styles, adding its distinctly warm and rich and deep overtones to the mix. The stick definition has a touch more darkness to it, but the response is nothing short of outstanding, and while the 'chick' packs quite a presence that might a bit much when playing smaller, acoustic gigs, it has a neutral, tasteful quality. Intended for medium to loud dynamics, the Black Big Beat has been entirely shaped and hammered by hand.
