General
The Soyuz 1973 represents over half a century's worth of FET-based large diaphragm condenser microphone tech. This compact model boasts all of the sonic charm of a 023 Bomblet capsule, which is famous for its sweet, transparent trebles and detailed mids and lows. The 1973 microphone also features a transformer-free output, giving it a slightly faster response and a wider dynamic range and, via the PAD switch found on the rear, the output of the capsule can be weakened to prevent distortion when miking up louder instruments. The Deluxe edition of the Soyuz 1973 large diaphragm condenser microphone also comes with a highly efficient shockmount, ensuring that the cardioid character is less sensitive to contact noise.
