Polished off with 7-ply body binding, pearloid split position markers, and a 5-ply Scalini pickguard, this Excel Series offering comes wrapped up in a deluxe case so you can keep it in pristine condition.

The Excel EXL1: Brilliant Playability

Featuring a comfy-and-classic C-profile, the set-in neck of this swanky archtop has been made from three pieces of tonewood to guarantee maximum resonance. The 24.75-inch scale length combines with an ebony fretboard that's been given a 12-inch radius for that traditionally relaxed and supple playing feel, supported by the durability of twenty-two Jescar 47/104 nickel-silver frets and the accurate intonation and tuning stability of a 43mm-wide Graph Tech NuBone XL nut.

Superb Sound and Hardware

In terms of amplified sound, you're treated to the rich, warm and jazz-ready tone of a Seymour Duncan USA '59 Alnico V neck humbucker, that can be reined in or let loose via the mounted volume and tone pots. For the hardware, D'Angelico has opted for a floating bridge made from ebony, resulting in excellent resonance and sustain. Not only that, you're looking at gold-plated Grover 150 Imperial tuners and a matching stairstep tailpiece for the emblematic finishing touch.
