The portable MX49 is ideal for live performances, but is also perfect for studio use since the MX49 can also be used as a both an audio and a MIDI interface. This means you can control the plugins with the rotary encoder of the MX49, and send the sound via a digital signal directly to your DAW. This synth comes complete with Cubase AI, so all you need to get started with the MX49 is a computer!

Wrote the following about Yamaha MX49 BU MK2

Allereerst miste ik bij deze bestelling de traditionele Bax-pen. Verder ging er bij de betaling iets (door mijn fout) mis waarbij ik ontzettend goed geholpen ben door de klantenservice van Bax, zodat ik een dag later toch nog het laatste exemplaar ontving.

Deze Yamaha MX 49 is een veelzijdig instrument en mijn eerste echte synthesizer. Het apparaat heeft talloze mogelijkheden en machtig mooie sounds. Via het gratis te downloaden Cubase worden deze mogelijkheden nog verder uitgebreid. Omdat er zoveel mogelijkheden zijn, en de handleiding niet altijd even duidelijk is, is het aan te raden om op Youtube naar de diverse filmpjes aldaar te zoeken. Wat mij veel geholpen heeft is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pm3evZm3FMY&t=1162s waarin ook een uitleg wordt gegeven hoe je de instellingen op Cubase kunt maken. In ieder geval, en zeker voor deze prijs, een apparaat waar ik op de lange winteravonden nog heel wat tijd zoek kan brengen. Een echte aanrader

All of a sudden, Yamaha has introduced no fewer than six new synths that follow in the footsteps of the old MX. Although Yamaha hasn't come up with a brand new name for their latest line of synths, with names like the MK2, V2 and II, you can expect them to live up to the same high quality standards as other Yamaha synthesizers.
