As part of the hugely popular Katana amplifier range, Boss is now also unveiling a particularly powerful 1x10 60-watt bass guitar amplifier in the form of this Katana-110 Bass. As well as this Class AB bass combo covering all the basics superbly for almost any bass guitarist, it also comes with a host of practical features such as the switchable power control, making this an excellent bass amp for a wide range of situations and musical styles. Firstly, you can choose between three basic tones. You can opt for a classic, natural valve tone with a touch of overdrive, a bright yet round bass sound with a wide dynamic range and plenty of overtones, or a wide dynamic range with a tight response for bassists who often play a bass with a longer scale length and a lower tuning.
Once you’ve set the correct gain and volume on the amplifier section, you can use the powerful 4-band equaliser to further shape your bass sound to your own taste. For the low and high mids, you can even select the exact frequency at which each control takes effect. Do you enjoy playing with effects? Then Boss offers you a wide choice across the 4 effects sections. Each of the 4 sections already comes with 6 standard effects to choose from. Every bassist is sure to find a suitable compression effect under ‘Comp’, and under ‘Drive’ you’re bound to find the overdrive, distortion or boost that’s right for you. In addition, the Katana-110 Bass’s FX1 and FX2 offer useful bass guitar effects such as an octaver, a chorus and various delays or reverbs.
Fancy a bit more body in the low end and a tighter high end? Then be sure to easily adjust the true, clean sound of your bass guitar using the Katana-110 Bass’s dry level blend. As well as the single custom 10-inch speaker, this bass combo also features a tweeter, which you can easily switch on whenever you need a bit more bite. Do you have any separate effects pedals you’d like to use with this Boss bass amp? Simply plug them into the effects loop on the rear panel. And if you have a favourite separate preamp, connect it to the power amp input there. For those times when you want to carry on playing late into the evening, there’s of course a headphones output too. You can also use this to record directly.
Particularly for live performances, this Boss amp also features a balanced XLR output. You can even choose whether to use a pre-amp, post-amp or direct signal from your bass guitar. Should you encounter ground loop hum, you can quickly resolve it using the GND lift switch. Below the balanced output, you’ll find three further sockets. Via the aux-in, you can connect an external device using a mini-jack cable – for example, to play along with songs. The USB 2.0 connector allows you to use the Boss Tone Editor to fine-tune the Katana-110 Bass’s tones even further and record directly to your PC or Mac. For Bluetooth control via your smartphone, connect the separately available BT-Dual, and with the optional GA-FC and the exp pedal socket, you can get the most out of this bass amp.
