General
Want to play the saxophone without your housemates hearing every note? With the Yamaha YDS-122 digital saxophone, you can simply practise using headphones. This further development of the Yamaha YDS-120 combines the familiar saxophone fingering with a more extensive range of sounds. As well as the 56 saxophone sounds for soprano, alto, tenor and baritone, you get 16 new instrument sounds, including violin and trumpet. This brings the total to 89 sounds, allowing you to fulfil a wide variety of musical roles with the same instrument. From a warm saxophone part to a surprising string melody: you don’t need to pick up another instrument. Handy for playing at home, but also if you like to switch things up when playing in a band!
Updated controls and a practical USB-C connection
This digital saxophone has also been upgraded under the keys. The improved key switches are more durable, and the analogue controller has been fitted with a new component. Furthermore, the YDS-120’s micro-USB port has been replaced by a USB-C port, for connection to a host device and MIDI communication. Want to practise with a backing track? Simply connect an external audio source to the 3.5 mm aux input. With the Yamaha YDS Controller app for iPhone, iPad and Android, you can adjust settings and sounds. Power is supplied via USB or four AAA batteries. This allows you to choose the power option that best suits your practice space and gives you plenty of scope to experiment with different sounds.
