General
This MP SL 55 L mouthpiece is the largest trombone mouthpiece for a large shank that Yamaha offers. Typically, large mouthpieces produce a heavy sound, and that counts for this model as well, making it an excellent fit for playing in large orchestras. Bass trombonists can also make great use of this mouthpiece.
Standard Series
Yamaha didn't design and produce their 170-mouthpiece assortment over night. They took their time and used the best technology operated by their expert professionals to develop quality mouthpieces for you. At Yamaha, they understand that even a tenth of a millimetre can make a huge different in the sound and performance of your instrument. The Standard series is a great place to start looking for the perfect mouthpiece, as it's the most affordable of the four series and offers consistently good sound, weight and performance.
