General
Together with Nils Landgren, Yamaha has developed the MP SL Landgren S mouthpiece for trombone. This model is particularly suited for jazz trombonists, as the rim is quite large, resulting in a powerful, flexible sound.
The Signature series
One great way of keeping you skills sharp as a musical instrument manufacturer is to surround yourself with top musicians. Such a situation is mutually beneficial, as musicians certainly benefit from working together with the R&D department over at Yamaha to create the best instrument/instrument parts possible, that would never have existed otherwise. Yamaha's Signature series is thus comprised of a number of special mouthpieces developed with famous musicians to have characteristics that they find important for their performances.
Nils Landgren
Nils Landgren is a Swedish trombone player who's built a great career in the world of funk, R&B and jazz. Known as "The Man with the Red Horn," Landgren has brought out a number of albums with artists such as Ray Parker Jr. and Maceo Parker.
