The Allen & Heath ZEDi-8 might just be the most perfect example of a combined mixer and an audio interface ever. For starters, it's basically the same as the ZED-6, a robust little mixer of renowned Allen & Heath quality. it boasts excellent sound thanks to the superb microphone preamps that are also found in the legendary GS-R25 mixing console. The ZEDi-8 also has an integrated USB interface with two important functions: 1) receiving a digital stereo signal from your computer, and 2) sending a signal back to the computer. You can either choose for a total stereo mix, or separated into channels 1 and 2, and all of this is compatible with Windows, Mac and iOS.

ZEDi-8: mixer and audio interface

By sending the mic channels 1 and 2 to your computer separately via the USB output, you're effectively using the ZEDi-8 as an external audio interface. You can record the vocals and guitar parts simultaneously, for example, and edit the two tracks separately using DAW software for a professional final mix. During recording, you can monitor yourself in real time using the headphone output. Want to connect a studio microphone that works on phantom power? No problem! Want to plug in a guitar without a DI box? That's a breeze, seeing as channels 1 and 2 accept microphone, line and instrument signals. The ZEDi-8 is a reliable, accessible, flexible mixer for use on stage as well as in the studio!

Wrote the following about Allen & Heath ZEDi-8 analogue mixer

Just a solid mixer. Feels very sturdy for the price, usually you'd expect something around this price range to feel cheaper in some places but its fantastic. EQ is decent, but the mids band feels like is set a bit wide for me. Very useful that you can use it as an interface as well for live recordings, and I have done that a couple of times for rehearsals as a group when you want to review parts of the session or get a demo. 9/10.

Excellent.
Tested this mixer against couple of others in the same price range, and this is my favorite! Solid build, high quality sound, and the only model I had with built-in power adapter (so you don't have yet another one laying on the floor!). Other plus is separate monitor mute buttons per channel. USB input and guitar amp work as expected.

Prima.

Goede PA-mixer van compact formaat. Ik gebruik deze mixer met een iMac naar 15 inch speakers.
Dit gaf meteen een flinke geluidskwaliteits-verbetering.
Na een paar keer de mixer gebruikt te hebben had ik het redelijk onder controle, goed te doen dus.
De handleiding laat echter wel te wensen over, alleen Engels en veel terminologie waar ik geen weet van heb.

Het is een degelijke behuizing met stevige knoppen, het geheel kan echt wel tegen een stootje.
Bij deze mixer is duidelijk niet op kwaliteit bezuinigt.
Voor de liefhebber is CUBASE LE 8 bijgeleverd.

Deze mixer verdient geen vijf sterren maar 10!!

Allen & Heath Announce the Newest Addition to the ZED Family

Mixing console manufacturers Allen & Heath recently unveiled their compact ZED series of mini mixers, and now, we are pleased to hear they have expanded it to include with two new models, the ZEDi-10 and the slightly larger ZEDi-10FX. Both consoles are equipped with four mono and two stereo channels, and can also be used as an audio interface thanks to a USB input. It won't be long before you can try them out!
