General

Made by Avid, the Carbon Pre 8-channel microphone preamp has been specially designed for Pro Tools users and, if you happen to already own a Carbon, the Carbon Pre is a superb expansion. That being said, the Carbon Pre also holds its own as a standalone unit and can be professionally expanded with 16 ADAT input and output channels as needed. Loaded with the same outstanding preamps as its larger sibling, the Carbon, this high-end microphone preamp offers ultra-transparent sound, as well as four instrument/microphone inputs with variable impedance, plus two front Hi-Z instrument inputs.

Streamline Your Workflow

Supporting a streamlined workflow, the Carbon Pre allows you to save and load presets, adjust levels, and toggle phantom power directly in Pro Tools. This way, you can quickly change sessions without losing your settings since the virtual assistant will simply re-configure everything for you. Thanks to the option to directly record audio without any latency, the Carbon Pre will quickly become your favourite stage-and-studio tool, especially since it's even possible to use it as a standalone console or integrate it into an existing Avid-based set-up via the EUCON protocol. Add it all up and it's safe to say that once you're used to working with this Avid mic preamp, there's no going back - and thankfully so.
