General

The Mackie Onyx8 is a compact, professional multi-track recording and playback solution wrapped up inside a neat and solid metal chassis, fitted with Onyx preamps, and supported by two fat software bundles. Essentially an 8-channel analogue mixer with two mono channels and three stereo channels, the Onyx8 provides XLR and 6.3mm jack combo inputs for both balanced or unbalanced audio signals, while the first two channels are able to take Hi-Z signals and have both been fitted with high-grade Onyx microphone preamps able to push up to 60dBs of clean and clear gain. A complete stereo mix can be recorded directly to an SD card, or a computer can be hooked up for direct 8-channel multi-track recording or 4-channel playback.

The Mackie Onyx8: Streamlined Power

The tight control panel of this analogue mixer bears a classic Perkins equaliser-design that harks back to the British-built desks of the '60s and '70s and offers the unique perk of the same rich and warm, vintage sound. More current features include an improved filter control and minimal phase switching; a more effective semi-parametric mid-range frequency control, and a bank of built-in effects. An immediately coherent, clear-cut Studio Command section provides effect, preset, recording, and SD card or USB playback management alongside wireless Bluetooth streaming functionality.

Leuke en zeer compacte mengtafel, met old-school disgn, dat kan ik wel smaken. Vele mogelijkheden en handig te bedienen. Werk perfect in mijn kleine studio. Kreeg ook hele goede uitleg van de medewerker van Bax.

Een mooie combinatie van analoge geluidskwaliteit met digitale effecten, USB optie, opname (SD) mogelijkheid en een interface. Op de SD kan je 'slechts' alleen de stereo output mét effecten opnemen als je dat wenst, de interface biedt de multitrack mogelijkheden waarbij de meegeleverde Waveform software erg gemakkelijk te gebruiken is. Zelf door een leek op dit gebied zoals ik. De solo en mute buttons per kanaal zijn ook erg gemakkelijk in de studio waarbij ik meerdere scenario's tegenkom: het standalone gebruik met een computer en het simpel afspelen van muziek, het meezingen van iemand met Youtube liedjes waarbij zij met wat reverb of andere effecten leuke opnames kan maken voor haarzelf en als laatste mijn gitaarpartijen via mijn Line 6 Helix die op kanalen 1 en 2 stereo (panning L/R) binnenkomen. Ideaal om snel af te wisselen zonder om te hoeven pluggen. Paar knopjes aan en uit en klaar. Voor mij ook een mooie bijkomstigheid is dat alle kabels op de headphones en foot switch na aan de achterkant zitten en je ze dus niet ziet zitten. Het oog wil ook wat natuurlijk ;-) De handleiding is te downloaden via de Mackie site en is grappig beschreven en bevat zeer bruikbare info en voorbeelden om het goed aan te sluiten. Mooi apparaat en snel en gemakkelijk af te halen bij Bax Amsterdam!

Eindelijk mijn mengpaneel. Goed advies gekregen van Bax-shop. Mengpaneel is iets duurder uitgevallen maar zie verschillende mogelijkheden nu ik de extra features heb. Icm Ableton is dit een echte aanrader als je ook nog een dj set hebt en keyboard etc. Een echte aanrader met een fantastische kwaliteit!!
