General

The Yamaha URX44C audio interface is the big boss in the new UR family. Once a Steinberg creation, it has since been acquired by Yamaha - which also owns Steinberg. Largely similar to the URX22C, but with more connectors. Among those connectors also DIN MIDI, which is nice and welcome for older synths anyway. Furthermore, it is an interface that is totally anno today, with a signal conversion of up to 192 kHz, and good integration with your DAW. About the latter: you get Cubase AI with it, as well as Steinberg Plus and the Basic FX Suite. In other words: a DAW, a set of virtual instruments, and a nice collection of effects. And although Cubase AI is an entry-level version (it's not the normal Cubase edition), by now it's one you might wonder if 't isn't just adequate. For starters, or 'simple' singer-songwriters at least, it is more than adequate.
