Teenage Engineering TP-7 Black field recorder

As usual, Teenage Engineering sneaks criss-cross through the mob. If everyone goes right, Teenage Enineering goes left. If everyone walks in a straight line, Teenage Engineering meanders between everything with unpredictable turns. You'd think the field recorder phenomenon would be settled by now, which is why the models of the major brands are somewhat similar - the conventions are fixed by now. And then there's the TP-7, and the whole book is rewritten again. Besides the built-in microphone and speaker (handy as a memo recorder, that is), you get three 3.5 mm connectors that can be input or output. So if you use them as input, you can record three stereo tracks.

Unique to the Teenage Engineering TP-7

So far, not even all that exciting. But then the controls; the big circle you see in the picture is literally a turntable. Indeed: you can scratch with it! And if you don't have DJ aspirations: it's also just a classic way of finding bits of audio in your recording. The rocker-switch on the side can be used as fast forward and fast rewind, another method of searching through your recording. Not very big at all, it fits in the palm of your hand, making it extremely portable. The technical features are also worth mentioning: 24 bit, 96 kHz, with 128 GB of internal storage. It is not the most inexpensive field recorder, but the TP-7 is quite unique in terms of shape and operation; there is nothing really like it. If you are a Teenage Engineering fan, you will more than appreciate the TP-7.
