General

Steinberg's SpectraLayers package is a nice tool for editing specific parts of your audio, a lot more targeted than applying a global equaliser that treats the whole audio the same. SpectraLayers is like a drawing programme, but for audio made visible with coloured areas on your screen. And that creates possibilities. Selecting and removing a siren, for example. Polishing up bad audio by literally selecting and deleting visual junk. And anything else your creative heart desires, so consider it a comprehensive sound-design tool as well. Similar in idea to the Pro version, but with features left out in this Elements version. After all, the price difference has to be in something. But even this stripped-down version will be sufficient for many.
