With the Arturia Keystep MK2, you invest in a very handy USB/MIDI keyboard. Although the word 'invest' sounds bigger than it really is. A thousand euros, that's an investment. But the amount this Keystep should bring in is a gift. Of course, there are several brands/types of MIDI keyboards in this price range, but do they all have aftertouch, and CV/gate, and classic DIN-MIDI? This Keystep does, and it comes with a nice software package too, consisting of a DAW and a large sound library. A nice copy for travelling, and also a nice controller for discovering new patterns using the extensive polyphonic step sequencer and the versatile arpeggiator.

Omdat ik mn eigen review niet kan aanpassen, hierbij een update. Ik had in nn review gezegd dat het keybed van keystep mk2 beter is dan de microlab mk3. De velocity response van de microlab is beter en consequenter. Ik heb de keystep mk2 terug gestuurd. De kesytep is in het midden zeg van 30 to 70 niet consequent en maakt best wel jumps in tegenstelling tot de microlab mk3.

Ik heb een Keystep 37 gehad en een microlab mk3 waarbij de keybeds prima zijn, maar de keystep mk2 heeft het beste keybed. De aftertouch van de keystep mk2 is aanzienlijk verbeterd vergeleken met de keystep 37.

Het keybed en de compacte maatvoering zijn voor mij het belangrijkste, de arpegiator en sequencer zijn nice to haves en gaan me vast ook veel plezier geven.

Voor mij een perfecte compacte keyboard tot nog toe voor in mn studio en live.
