Thanks to its enormous frequency range, the PR 40 dynamic large-diaphragm microphone is suitable for a wide range of applications. In addition, specially manufactured materials have been used to minimise noise and background sounds. The diaphragm is also designed to be completely decoupled from the body. This shock-mount construction ensures that no vibrations or resonance are transmitted to the microphone, allowing it to operate completely silently. Furthermore, two mesh screens have been used and layered on top of one another to minimise interference and ensure an optimal response to the human voice. Finally, this also ensures that annoying ‘popping’ noises are no longer an issue.

Flat frequency response and versatile

The PR 40 features a flat, neutral frequency response that extends smoothly from 28 Hz to 18 kHz. This means the microphone can be used for vocals as well as drums – particularly toms and bass drums – and for amplifying guitar and bass guitar. Among studio engineers, the PR 40 is therefore known as the ‘thoroughbred workhorse’ of large-diaphragm microphones. All PR 40 microphones are supplied with a die-cast metal microphone stand in a faux-leather case.
