Wrapped in tight, sci-fi style, the Heil Sound The Fin dynamic microphone brings retro-futuristic design bang up to date. Don't be fooled, this is no throwback gimmick. This is a professional microphone that boasts exactly the same voice coil you'll find in the guts of the acclaimed PR 20 and an expertly calibrated cardioid polar pattern that supports vocals with superb sound. The noise rejection of this ingenuous chunk of tech is also on point, where any ambient sound is automatically placed out of phase and effectively eliminated, leaving the speech, vocals, or instrument its capturing sounding clean, clear and ultra-defined.

Cylon-Grade Style

Since the level of performance is in order, we can talk about the style of this microphone, which features four internal LEDs that light up like a fifties cyborg whenever The Finn is in use. Hook it up via a balanced XLR cable and feed it standard +48 Volt phantom power and it's at your service. Inside, a moulded foam windshield protects the large internal pickup and acts as an integrated pop-shield, guarding the diaphragm against plosives and helping to normalise the sound. The design of the windshield even incorporates a shockmount to limit contact noise, completing a high-performance, stage-ready microphone.

Wrote the following about Heil Sound The Fin Dynamic Microphone

Als er ooit een mooie B-stock aanbieding zou komen wilde ik 'm hebben: een echte Heil, en dan gelijk the blue FIN. Eenmaal uitgepakt en aangesloten was het geluid blikkerig. Nog even wat aan afstelling gedaan... helaas. Ook de dynamiek van veraf of dichtbij was minder te doseren dan mijn "crappy" Samson Q8

Ik bewaarde het hoogtepunt voor het laatst. 48V er op voor de mooie blauwe gloed. Het resultaat was/waren 4 lichtpuntjes die door het blauwe foam heen oplichtten. Niet bepaald een glamourgevoel.

Ik sluit niet uit dit ik iets verkeerd heb gedaan met afstellen van de microfoon. Ga dus niet alleen op mijn review af, want zonder het licht aan is het echt een gaaf ding om te zien. Zelfs ondanks mijn Bose Tonematch kon ik er geluidstechnisch helaas echt helemaal niets mee.
