The AEA N8 – highly versatile

The N8 excels at recording drum overheads, strings and acoustic instruments, classical ensembles and orchestras, guitar and bass amplifiers, and wind instruments such as the saxophone. Its unique far-field design makes the N8 particularly well-suited to recording from a greater distance. Where many microphones lose warmth, the N8 retains a full low-end response and a natural balance, even when positioned metres away from the sound source. With its bidirectional (figure-8) polar pattern, the N8 also offers excellent possibilities for minimising crosstalk whilst simultaneously creating a realistic spatial recording. The characteristic ribbon sound provides a pleasant warmth without any loss of detail and is ideal for equalisation during the mix.
